Eternatus in Sword and Shield

Pokemon Sword Shield Eternatus Pokemon Sword Shield Eternatus

Species: Gigantic Pokemon
Type: Poison Dragon
Ability: Pressure
Lv. 60
Moves: Cross Poison, Dragon Pulse, Flamethrower, Dynamax Cannon

How to Catch Eternatus in Sword or Shield version:

Catching the legenendary Pokemon Eternatus is part of the main storyline of Sword and Shield versions. For full details, check out our walkthrough. Unlike most Pokemon games, this "third legendary" is actually caught before the title legendaries of the game. Eternatus will be summoned by Chairman Rose and you'll need to defeat two different forms in a battle with the help of Zacian or Zamazenta.

After defeating the second form of Eternatus, you'll be able to toss a Pokeball to catch it. This process is more akin to Max Raid Battles than normal Pokemon battles. Don't waste your Master Ball on it, Eternatus is easy to catch with any Poke Ball you choose.

Zacian in Sword and Shield

Species: Warrior Pokemon
Type: Fairy Steel
Ability: Intrepid Sword
Lv. 70
Moves: Sacred Sword, Swords Dance, Iron Head, Crunch

How to Catch Zacian in Sword version:

The title legendaries of Sword and Shield cannot be caught until the Post Game, after you become the champion of the Galar region. The process is quite involved, and requires playing through a storyline where you mitigate the misbehavior of two characters named Sordward and Shielbert. Check out our walkthrough for complete details.

Once you engage in a battle with Zacian, the process for catching is very similar to any other Pokemon. The battle is difficult, but simply weaken it until its HP is red and inflict a status condition if possible. If you want to use your Master Ball on a legendary, this is a good candidate. However, we recommend saving it for a potential shiny encounter. Rather, use Ultra Balls (or Dusk Balls at night) until you've caught it.

How to Catch Zacian in Shield version:

Zacian cannot be caught in Shield version. The only way to obtain it in Shield is through trading or events.
